{"id":183,"date":"2008-12-26T07:57:24","date_gmt":"2008-12-26T15:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/niasomoves.com\/Rachaelsblog\/?p=183"},"modified":"2008-12-28T12:49:08","modified_gmt":"2008-12-28T20:49:08","slug":"finding-your-own-level-in-nia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/finding-your-own-level-in-nia\/","title":{"rendered":"Finding Your Own Level in Nia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3209\/3133763183_68be614e48.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3209\/3133763183_68be614e48.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>How do I adapt movements in Nia class to fit my body? \u00a0What if I have an injury or a condition that I&#8217;m healing?<\/p>\n<p>White Belt Principle #7, The Three Planes and Three Intensity Levels, offers us an important way to personalize our movement choices. \u00a0The intensity levels give us a map of how we can adjust our movements to fit the moment. \u00a0They show us how to find and sustain the joy of movement, bringing health and healing to the body, in Nia class and while dancing through life.<\/p>\n<p>Learn the sensation of each of the three intensity levels in your own body.<\/p>\n<p>Because the levels exist on a relative scale, <em>everybody<\/em> can move at <em>all three<\/em> levels, no matter what their physical state. \u00a0 Like our own personal volume control knob with settings at low, middle and high, the levels allow us to explore and move in our body&#8217;s full available range.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/niablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/3.gif\" alt=\"Three intensity levels\" width=\"500\" height=\"309\" \/><br \/>\n <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Fall in love with the sensation and the benefits of each level. \u00a0Each level nourishes the body in unique ways. \u00a0No one level is more or less important. \u00a0Regardless of fitness level, Nia encourages everyone to explore all three intensity levels.<\/p>\n<p><!--StartFragment--> <!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Level 1:<\/strong> Movements are simple and less intense. \u00a0Movements may be smaller, slower, closer to center, internal, intimate, grounded or simplified. \u00a0Like a microscope, Level 1 can travel infinitely inside the body. \u00a0Level 1 teaches us subtlety, center and depth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Level 1 is where we go to rejuvenate, heal, find our energy, our center and our ground. \u00a0We spend time at Level 1 when we are healing.\u00a0 We return to\u00a0Level 1\u00a0from Level 2 or 3 to rejuvenate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Level 2:<\/strong> Movements are somewhat larger, faster and more complex than Level 1. \u00a0Level 2 teaches us the middle way. \u00a0Level 2\u00a0is always equidistant between your Level 1 and your Level 3. \u00a0This develops a continuum of choices and of sensitivity within the nervous system.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Level 2 is where we go when we want to sustain a higher level of energy, paying attention to detail, yet adding intensity and complexity. \u00a0We return to\u00a0Level 2 from Level 3 to find center.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Level 3:<\/strong> Level 3 is where we seek our edge. \u00a0Level 3\u00a0is the most challenging and most complex. \u00a0Here we approach, but do not cross over, our own personal edge &#8212; whatever that may be &#8212; regarding range of motion, flexibility, strength, speed, height, depth, complexity, variety, emotional expression, style, vocalization and energetics. \u00a0Level 3 is a place we visit; it is not meant to be sustained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Level 3 teaches us to maximize our experience with a movement in the moment, yet stay connected to the center and ground we established in level 1.<\/p>\n<p>Find the sensation of your breath at each level. \u00a0Learn\u00a0the sensation of each of the three intensity levels in your own body. \u00a0Become intimate with\u00a0your body&#8217;s way. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A balanced body is one that can do <em>all<\/em> levels with ease, grace and passion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How do I adapt movements in Nia class to fit my body? \u00a0What if I have an injury or a condition that I&#8217;m healing?
