{"id":40,"date":"2008-02-14T07:46:34","date_gmt":"2008-02-14T15:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/niasomoves.com\/Rachaelsblog\/2008\/02\/14\/music-movement-and-magic\/"},"modified":"2008-04-25T15:17:29","modified_gmt":"2008-04-25T23:17:29","slug":"music-movement-and-magic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/music-movement-and-magic\/","title":{"rendered":"Music, Movement and Magic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The focus of Saturday&#8217;s class was Music, Movement and Magic. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Music, Movement and Magic is&nbsp;part of White Belt Principle #3, Music and the 8BC System. &nbsp;The focus arose out of my desire to bring to the class a deeper understanding both somatically and cognitively of sound in the Nia practice. &nbsp;It also arose out of my desire to rest my voice as I recuperate from a cold. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After a discussion of the Movement, Music and Magic triad, I led class without speaking. &nbsp;This allowed us to put more attention on the sensation of music as we moved, and allowing me to teach my body&#8217;s way, without straining my throat.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the Music, Movement and Magic triad:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"blue-pr-_11.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/blue-pr-_11.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Many of the Nia principles are based on triads &nbsp; Every Nia triad is an equilateral triangle. &nbsp;This tells us that each component of the triad is of equal value. &nbsp;To be honest, I have often emphasized movement more than music, so I appreciate the opportunity to balance this triad of the Nia practice.<\/p>\n<p>If we look at the triangle and travel from the lower left corner clockwise around to the top, the triad shows us that Music + Movement = Magic. &nbsp;The art of listening plus the moving your body&#8217;s way creates magic we call Nia. &nbsp;The art of listening is the practice of putting 100% attention on the music &#8212; attention both on the sounds of the music and on the silences between the sounds. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am finding the practice of teaching without talking and dancing without verbal language to be exquisite. &nbsp;The sensation is spacious, luxurious and beautifully detailed, like being in a great cathedral. &nbsp;And indeed, there is a very devotional quality to this practice.<\/p>\n<p>When I am silent, my mental realm quiets and my system opens up in a different way. &nbsp;In Saturday&#8217;s class, I felt like all my 75 trillion cells were resonating inside my body, &nbsp;a chorus of 75 trillion ecstatically joining the music from within. &nbsp;Interestingly, it was a very similar sensation to doing the routine,&nbsp;<i>Sounding,<\/i>&nbsp;where we are toning and singing with the music as we move.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The focus of Saturday&#8217;s class was Music, Movement and Magic. &nbsp; Music, Movement and Magic is&nbsp;part of White Belt Principle #3, Music and the 8BC System. &nbsp;The focus arose out of my desire to bring to the class a deeper understanding both somatically and cognitively of sound in the Nia practice. &nbsp;It also arose out [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-40","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-white-belt"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/40","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=40"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/40\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=40"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=40"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/synergy-pt.net\/niablog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=40"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
