Do I need a prescription for physical therapy?
The short answer: No. By Oregon law, you can see a physical therapist without a prescription for 60 calendar days. After that a prescription is needed from an MD, osteopath, chiropractor, dentist, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant.
The longer answer: It depends on your insurance. Some insurance plans, like Medicare, require a prescription. We suggest you call your insurance to find out the specific requirements of your plan.
